Modesto, CA – On Friday evening at about 7:40 p.m., officers responded to several 9-1-1 calls of gunshots and seeing a man down on the sidewalk at Ortega Drive and Galvez Avenue. The victim, identified as 39-year-old Kalpesh Patel of Modesto, suffered gunshot wounds and was rushed to a local hospital where he died from his injuries.

Detectives believe that Patel was in front of a house in the 1600 block of Ortega when he was shot. The unidentified suspect fled the area prior to police arrival and remains outstanding.

As detectives continue to piece together the events that led up to the shooting, they encourage anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers at 209-521-4636.
