Modesto, CA – Detectives arrest three in a southwest Modesto shooting that injured one man and left another man dead.
At about 4:30 p.m. Monday, June 12, 2017, officers responded to several 9-1-1 calls of a shooting in the 800 block of Sutter Avenue. Once on scene, emergency personnel found 25-year-old Terelle Swearengin of Sacramento who had been shot. He was transported to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
A 2nd gunshot victim, a 22-year-old Modesto man, was also transported to an area hospital where he was treated for non-life threatening injuries.
The preliminary investigation suggests that a suspect in a vehicle shot at the victims who were walking southbound on Sutter with two other men. Detectives have remained active in their investigation to find those responsible for the shooting. During multiple search warrants yesterday, they arrested 19-year-old Marcus White of Modesto and two 17-year-old male juveniles for murder and attempted murder.
