Advisory
The identity of the female driver involved in the fatal motor vehicle crash which occurred on Saturday Nov 24, 2018, was Elizabeth Gunter of Lake Mountain View Drive in Marion NC 28752.
There were four other passengers in the vehicle that was operated by Gunter, three of which were juveniles, and Myranda Hawkins (25) of Lake Mountain View Drive (Marion). As stated in the previous release, they were all transported to Mission Hospital of Asheville with non-life threatening injuries.
After further investigation into this motor vehicle crash, Officers with the Marion Police Department charged Ivan Portal (of Miami Florida), driver of the Tractor Trailer with one count of Misdemeanor Death by Vehicle.
At the time of Portal’s arrested he was found to be in possession of Misdemeanor amounts of prescription medications (Novel 123 & Xanax). Portal was charged with one count each of Misdemeanor Possession of a Schedule IV Controlled Substance.
Portal received a $5000 secured bond for all of the above listed charges, and was confined to the McDowell County Detention Facility.

MOTOR VEHICLE CRASH 221/226 SOUTH IN MARION
