Homicide Detectives arrested Josh Simon for the murder of Beatriz Guzman in Twentynine Palms

LOCATION: 1200 block of Morongo Road, Twentynine Palms
Power Line Rd. west of Morongo Rd., Twentynine Palms
VICTIM: Beatriz Guzman, 35 years old, resident of Twentynine Palms
SUSPECT: Josh Simon, 36 years old, resident of San Bernardino
SUMMARY:
On Thursday, March 5, 2020 at 5:41 p.m. deputies responded to calls of a man walking in the neighborhood armed with a gun. Deputies arrived in the area and the armed man, later identified as Josh Simon, went inside the residence and refused to exit. At nearly the same time, deputies received a secondary call reporting a female down in the road next to a vehicle in the area of Power Line Rd. west of Morongo Rd. Deputies and medical personnel responded to the female and found she was suffering gunshot wounds and was pronounced deceased.
A short time later Simon surrendered to deputies without further incident.
Homicide Detectives are conducting the investigation.
Detectives learned that the suspect and victim have been in a dating relationship and on Thursday evening, for reasons still under investigation, the suspect shot the victim. Detectives interviewed Josh Simon and following the interview he was arrested for Murder. He was booked at West Valley Detention Center.
