Narrative:
On 9-11-19, at about 1350 hours, the Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call from a resident in Nyeland Acres regarding an unknown Hispanic male attempting to lure a juvenile into his car. The caller reported an unknown Hispanic male asked the female juvenile if she wanted to engage in sexual acts in exchange for money.
 
The suspect was described as a dark skinned Hispanic male with spiky hair between the ages of 30 and 40 years-old.  The suspect was driving a white four door sedan as he approached the victim as she was walking home from school.  When the suspect made contact with the victim, she got scared and ran away believing the suspect was going to get out of his vehicle. The victim ran to a nearby house and the Sheriff’s Office was called.
 
Headquarters Station detectives canvassed the area for witnesses and surveillance video.  A video of the incident was located and provided evidence that identified the suspect’s vehicle.  Detectives located the suspect’s vehicle in the area where the incident occurred.  Further investigation led to the identity of the suspect.    
 
On 9-18-19, Detectives located and arrested (A) Isidro Vargas Vasquez for child annoying. Vasquez was later booked into the Ventura County Pre-Trial Detention Facility for Penal Code 647.6(a)(1) – Child annoying.  His bail was set at $5,000. Vasquez bailed out and his court date is set for November 19, 2019. 
 
The Ventura County Sheriff’s Office would like to remind members of the public to speak to their children about talking to strangers and to notify their local police agency if they suspect any type of crime or suspicious activity has occurred.
