Suffolk County Police Third Squad detectives are investigating a pedestrian crash that killed a woman in Bay Shore this morning.
Gerald Hautman, of Jet Sanitation, was operating a 2010 Mack dump truck, traveling eastbound on Sunrise Highway South Service Road near Redmond Avenue when the vehicle struck Gloria Prietto at approximately 11:10 a.m.
Prietto, 81, of Bay Shore was transported to Southside Hospital in Bay Shore where she was pronounced dead. Hautman, 41, of Huntington Station was uninjured and remained at the scene.
The investigation is continuing. Detectives are asking anyone with information on this incident to call the Third Squad at 631-854-8352
