Personal Safety Advisory: Special Attention Female Students

The UC Irvine Police Department has been made aware of a white male subject in his late 50s to early 60s who has been contacting females who appear to be college students in and around the UC Irvine campus.

The man approaches asking if he can assist with directions, or offers
suggestions and ideas on how to live in America. The subject frequents local shopping centers near UC Irvine and has been seen on a number of occasions at Starbucks on the corner of California Avenue and Campus Drive.

This week, a female student from UC Irvine reported that she was
approached by a subject who offered to give her a ride to a local
train station. When they arrived at the train station, the male
subject attempted to inappropriately touch the female. The female was able to escape from the vehicle. The subject was possibly driving a gold colored, early model Lexus sedan.

The UC Irvine Police Department is asking for assistance in
identifying the male subject. If you or anyone you know has been
approached by a subject matching the description above, please contact the UC Irvine Police Department at (949) 824-5223.

Crime prevention safety tips, along with other personal safety
information, can be found on the UC Irvine Police Department's website at www.police.uci.edu.
