UCIPD welcomes new police officers and employees
On Wednesday, August 21, 2013, Chief Henisey welcomed UC Irvine Police Department's newest employees during a ceremony held at the UCI University Club. Family members, friends, and department personnel attended the ceremony to congratulate Officer Christopher Patton, Officer Samuel Soon, Business Continuity Planner Chris Seide, and Community Service Officer (CSO) Coordinator Cedric Young.
Officer Christopher Patton graduated from California State University, Long Beach with a Bachelor's degree in Community Health Education. He joins UCIPD after a career in the Pharmaceutical/Medical industry. While fully employed, he self-sponsored himself through the Level 3 and Level 2 reserve academy at the Orange County Sheriff's Department. He was sworn-in as a Reserve Deputy with OCSD in February 2010. Officer Patton was then hired by UCIPD and attended the Orange County Sheriff's Basic Academy. He graduated on August 20, 2013 from OCSD's Academy Class #206.
Officer Samuel Soon graduated from the University of California, Irvine in 2011 with a Bachelor's degree in Criminology, Law and Society and a minor in Management. While attending UCI, he was involved in activities with UCI Extension, the UCI Habitat for Humanity club, UCI's New Student Parent Orientation Programs (SPOP), and the Orange County Public Defender's Office. After graduating, he worked for several years at the Irvine Company Apartment Communities before joining UCIPD and attending the Orange County Sheriff's Basic Academy. Officer Soon graduated on August 20, 2013 from OCSD's Academy Class #206.
Business Continuity Planner Chris Seide graduated from the University of California, Irvine in 2009 with a Bachelor's degree in Social Ecology and a minor in Management. As a student, he was employed by UCIPD as a Community Service Officer and eventually became the CSO Coordinator. After graduating from UCI, Chris attended the Chapman University School of Law. He obtained his Juris Doctor degree in May of 2013 and completed the California Bar Exam in August 2013. Chris is excited to re-join UCIPD as a member of the Emergency Services Unit and serve as the Business Continuity Planner for the University.
CSO Coordinator Cedric Young graduated from the University of California, Irvine in 2009 with a Bachelor's degree in Sociology. While attending UCI, he was involved in several campus activities and clubs. He also served as a Community Service Officer at UCIPD and was a supervisor of hiring and administration. After graduation, he worked for several years at Google's headquarters in Mountain View and managed the staffing for their Street View project. Cedric is excited to re-join UCIPD as the CSO Coordinator.
