The UC Irvine Police Department is offering the annual Campus Search and Rescue (CSAR) Training Program beginning Wednesday, April 2. This free program, open to all staff and faculty, is modeled after the national Citizen Corps Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) programs. Topics include disaster preparedness, hazardous material and fire safety, disaster medical operations, active shooter and terrorism awareness, light search and rescue, and disaster psychology. CSAR team members will be able to improve their emergency preparedness at home, in their communities, and on campus.
The training series includes 18 instructional hours, plus a final exercise, delivered in seven three-hour sessions. The first class is on Wednesday, April 2, and participants will meet from 9 a.m. to noon every Wednesday through May 14 in Humanities Gateway, Room 1010. Space is limited.
