Last night UCIPD officers responded to a call of a missing 53 year old man who had jumped from his mother’s car near Bison and Peltason. The man was reported to be schizophrenic, possibly manic, and off his medications. He has attempted to commit suicide in the past and was thought to be suicidal last night. The son was identified as Richard Hull and neither he nor his mother were UCI affiliates. UCIPD coordinated with Newport Beach PD, Irvine PD and the Orange County Sheriff’s helicopter and bloodhounds. The subject was eventually located in Newport Beach at Bison and MacArthur following a call to the Newport Beach Fire Department. The subject was transported to Hoag Newport and placed on a 5150 hold. UCIPD is thankful for your cooperation and understanding during this incident last night.
