The Sufolk County Social Host Law applies to adults 18 and over who allow alcohol consumption by minors 21 and under.
The Suffolk County Social Host Law provides a legal basis for holding adults responsible for knowingly allowing parties where alcoholic beverages are consumed by youth under 21 to occur at a place under their control whether or not the adult provided the alcohol. Penalties range from a fine of up to $250.00 for the first offense and go up to $1000.00 and/or a year in jail for subsequent offenses.
