UCIPD has been notified by alert community members of a possible magazine scam occurring in several UCI housing areas. The salespersons are allegedly going door to door in a competition to sell magazines. UCIPD cannot verify the legitimacy of these magazine sales and recommends against making purchases through unknown salespersons. Some residents have discovered stickers or markings left on their doors after the salespersons leave and were concerned these salespersons are tagging/marking apartments for future burglaries. This information is currently unsubstantiated. UCIPD requests you remain vigilant and report any unusual markings (stickers, etc) you may find on your apartment door.
