Suffolk County Police Department Sixth Precinct officers, Sixth Precinct Cops Who Care members and McDonald’s of Centereach will team up to give underprivileged children a holiday shopping experience.

Seventy children who reside within the Sixth Precinct will participate in a program during which they will shop with a police officer. The children will each receive a $35 gift card that they can spend at Target, located at 255 Pond Path in South Setauket.

Suffolk County Police officers and members of the Suffolk County Police Explorers program, a public service group for young adults, will assist the children during their shopping trip, which is being held December 15 at 6 p.m. The children can spend the gift cards on anything in the store. The Sixth Precinct officers, Sixth Precinct Cops Who Care and McDonald’s of Centereach donated money for the gift cards. McDonald’s will also be providing food for the children after the event.
