On May 4, 2015 the Suffolk County Police Department Community Liaison and 5th Precinct COPE Officers did a presentation which was focused on engagement of the Spanish Speaking Community in Patchogue. This presentation focused on topics such as; what to do when stooped by the police, what to do if you are a victim of a crime, how to make/obtain a police report, language access services and other pertinent topics. This presentation was developed with the purpose of enhancing the relationship between police and the community. This forum enabled many community members to engage in an open dialogue with police officers. Bravo Supermarket owner Jose Bonilla generously donated food, snacks and refreshments for the event, which was well received by all participants. The 5th precinct looks forward to partnering with more schools, churches and community organizations to hold future events.
