San Pablo PD Sobriety checkpoint on Saturday September 12, 2015
PRESS RELEASE
D.U.I. CHECKPOINT
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE SEPTEMBER 01, 2015
The San Pablo Police Department’s Traffic Division will conduct a sobriety checkpoint on Saturday September 12, 2015, between the hours of 6 p.m. and 2 a.m. on San Pablo Avenue. Officers will focus on impaired drivers to reduce the number of DUI collisions and to improve overall traffic safety.
Officers will be contacting drivers who pass through the checkpoint looking for signs of alcohol and or drug impairment. Via the Criminal Justice System, Impaired drivers can expect jail, driver’s license suspensions, higher insurance costs, fines, fees, DUI classes, court probation, and other expenses which can exceed $10,000.
The checkpoint operation is made possible through a grant provided by California’s Office of Traffic Safety (O.T.S.) who strives to eliminate traffic deaths and injuries. It does this by making available grants to local and state public agencies for programs that help them enforce traffic laws, educate the public in traffic safety, and provide varied and effective means of reducing fatalities, injuries, and economic losses from collisions.
