Winter Storm Warning - UPDATE

Heavy Rain and High Surf Predicted

SEAL BEACH, CA. – The National Weather Service has updated the forecast for this weekend. The updated forecast includes damaging winds on Friday and Friday night, with sustained wind speeds of 40-60 mph. Rain will be heaviest on Friday night from 3:00pm to 5:00am. Rainfall rates are expected to be ¼ of an inch to ¾ of an inch per hour, with a possible total of 3-5 inches of rain. Additionally, damaging surf along with gale force winds have potential to cause minor flooding on Saturday. Waves as high as 12 feet are possible and the high tide will be in the four foot range.

The combination of high surf and heavy rain may cause mild to moderate flooding in Seal Beach. The City of Seal Beach Marine Safety Department, Public Works Department and Police Department will be monitoring conditions throughout the rain event and responding appropriately as issues arise. Residents are encouraged to monitor the surf and weather conditions and take the necessary steps to protect themselves and their property. Secure outdoor furniture and other items and have a flashlight with fresh batteries ready in case of power outage.
