U.S. Air Force fighter jets will fly over Seal Beach today commemorating 70th aniversary of supersonic flight
LOS ALAMITOS, Calif. – The U.S. Air Force is commemorating the 70th anniversary of supersonic flight tomorrow -- Friday, Oct. 13 -- with a formation of four high-performance fighter aircraft that will fly over areas of Orange County that include Huntington Beach and Seal Beach.
The aircraft, including an F-15 Eagle, F-16 Fighting Falcon, F-22 Raptor and F-35 Lightning II from Edwards Air Force Base, will be at an altitude of 1,000 feet above ground level for most of the flight that is scheduled to take place between 12 noon and 1 p.m. Included are flyovers of a number of schools – including the J.H. McGaugh Elementary School in Seal Beach.
The flight will not be conducting any sonic booms, but as it will be over – or near -- a number of populated areas at a relatively low altitude, residents may experience increased aircraft noise as the jets pass over each community.
The California National Guard and Joint Forces Training Base are not connected to this event and this information is being forwarded as a service to our neighbors. .
