GPW Police were notified of a threat involving 2 Grosse Pointe North Students bringing a gun to school this morning.

**** Threats at Grosse Pointe North High School ****

At approximate 6:30am, Grosse Pointe Woods Police were notified of a threat on social media possibly involving 2 Grosse Pointe North Students bringing a gun to school today. The threat posted was of a Grosse Pointe North High School student holding a gun with a caption reading along the lines of “Don’t Go To School Today.”

A Police investigation began immediately. The investigation revealed that a SnapChat was taken of a student holding a gun. The Snap was forwarded to a friend, who admitted to writing the caption on his friend’s photo and sharing it on his “SnapChat Story”, with the intent of trying to get Grosse Pointe North to close today. The student did not anticipate the snap spreading so quickly.

Grosse Pointe Woods police have recovered the firearm in question, which is being held by police at this time.
