Marine Bureau Officers Rescue Three Victims from Sinking Boat
Suffolk County Police Marine Bureau officers rescued three men and a dog from a sinking boat in Patchogue Bay tonight.
A boater in distress notified authorities that their 1979 Mako was taking on water by Buoy Number 36, at approximately 8:10 p.m. Marine Mike responded and upon arrival observed the boat was almost under water.
The men were all wearing life-jackets when Marine Mike arrived. Carlo Gervasi, 57, of Patchogue, Salvatore Caliguri, 44, of Selden, Thomas Crowley, 45, of Holbrook, and a labradoodle were safely brought aboard Marine Mike by Officers George Schmidt, and his partner Steve Tarolli at approximately 8:35 p.m. There were no injuries.
The officers towed the boat to Corey Creek Marina in Blue Point.
