****UPDATE ON ATTEMPTED CHILD ABDUCTION****

Attached is a sketch of the suspect as described by the victim, drawn by a Forensic Artist with the Michigan State Police. Our department continues an active investigation and are following up on credible leads at this time. Several agencies have reached out offering their assistance and are working with us currently. Through out this investigation our victim's story has remained consistent with his original allegations as to his attempted abduction. We ask that you please continue to safely be on the lookout and to call police with any suspicious activity.

In the interest of sharing information and maintaining communication with regard to resident and child safety, we want to make you aware of a suspicious incident that occurred on Wednesday, September 19, 2018 at approximately 7:50pm, in the area of Marter Rd. and Roslyn Rd. in the City of Grosse Pointe Woods.

A 13 year old male resident of Grosse Pointe Woods, was riding his bike home from a friend’s house in Grosse Pointe Shores, around 7:50pm. As the 13 year old resident was traveling west on Roslyn from Marter, he saw headlights slowly approaching him. The vehicle stopped in the middle of Roslyn Rd. and a white male, approx. 30-40 years old, heavy set, got out of the vehicle and attempted to grab the 13 year old resident, skimming his arm. As the 13 year old resident fled from the suspect, he turned around and observed the suspect running after him. The 13 year old resident was able to safely make it home, at which point police was contacted.

Vehicle Information:
• Black, (Newer Model) Cadillac Escalade or similar

Suspect Information:
• White male, late 30’s, heavy set, clean shaven
• Brown hair and wearing an orange baseball hat with a black letter or marking on it
• Suspect was wearing blue jeans with a blue t-shirt and black shoes

If anyone has any information, or sees a vehicle and/or suspect(s) matching this description and you feel it is suspicious, please contact police immediately at (313) 343-2410, or 9-1-1 if you feel there is eminent danger. The Grosse Pointe Woods Department of Public Safety’s Detective Bureau is actively investigating this case.

This provides an opportunity for you to review all appropriate safety precautions with your children and urge them to use caution and common sense in any situation that feels uncomfortable or dangerous to them. Please be sure that your children know to report any incident immediately to an adult or to call police. Our most important priority, like yours, is keeping our residents and children safe.
