Suffolk County Police today arrested an Amityville man for shooting a man to death in Amityville this morning.

First Precinct officers responded to Albany Avenue and South Park Place at approximately 7:45 a.m. after Mark Cheatham called 911 to report a man had been shot at the location. When officers arrived, they found Michael D. Jackson unconscious, with multiple gunshot wounds, in a 2015 Honda Accord. Jackson, 39, of 32 South Park Place, Amityville, was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip where he was pronounced dead.

Cheatham, 34, of 25 Banbury Court, Amityville, was charged with Murder 2^nd Degree. Cheatham will be held overnight at the First Precinct and arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on January 23.
