On 2-21-19 at approx. 1312hrs, Grosse Pointe Woods Public Safety Officers were dispatched to the area of Mack Ave. and Littlestone Rd. in the City of Grosse Pointe Woods on a report of an unarmed robbery that had just occurred at 19605 Mack Ave. (Garrido's Bistro & Pastry).
As officers arrived on scene, it was reported that a witness to the robbery had chased the suspect out of the Bistro and down Littlestone before he was assaulted by the robber and knocked to the ground. As officers arrived on scene, an officer spotted a suspect matching the description of the robber (black male, 6 feet tall, 190lbs wearing black clothing with a hoodie) and a foot pursuit ensued through the yards, where the suspect was subsequently apprehended within minutes in the area of Prestwick and Eastborne in the City of Grosse Pointe Woods.
The suspect is being held by the Grosse Pointe Woods Department of Public Safety on several felonies without bond, awaiting charges by the Wayne County Prosecutors Office. Charges are expected to be received sometime on Friday, February 22, 2019.
