UPDATE Robbery Suspect ARRAIGNED in Grosse Pointe Woods
On 2-21-19 at approx. 1312hrs, Grosse Pointe Woods Public Safety Officers were dispatched to the area of Mack Ave. and Littlestone Rd. in the City of Grosse Pointe Woods on a report of an unarmed robbery that had just occurred at 19605 Mack Ave. (Garrido's Bistro & Pastry).
As officers arrived on scene, it was reported that a witness to the robbery had chased the suspect out of the Bistro and down Littlestone before he was assaulted by the robber and knocked to the ground. As officers arrived on scene, an officer spotted a suspect matching the description of the robber (black male, 6 feet tall, 190lbs wearing black clothing with a hoodie) and a foot pursuit ensued through the yards, where the suspect was subsequently apprehended within minutes in the area of Prestwick and Eastborne in the City of Grosse Pointe Woods.
Arrested was Amir Boykin (17) of Detroit who is pictured below.
Boykin was charged by the Wayne County Prosecutors Office on the following charges:
Count 1: Larceny from the person (felony)
Count 2: Larceny in a building (felony)
Count 3: Police Officer – Assaulting/Resisting/Obstructing (felony)
Count 4: Assault or Assault and Battery (misdemeanor)
If found guilty, Boykin could receive up to 16 years in prison each.
Boykin was arraigned this afternoon before the Honorable Theodore Metry in the Grosse Pointe Woods Municipal Court.
Boykin was given a bond of $50,000 cash/surety, if released he is ordered to be on a GPS teather.
Boykin is due back in the Grosse Pointe Woods Municipal Court on February 27, 2019 at 10:00am for a Probable Cause Conference, with an Exam date set for March 6, 2019 at 1:00pm all before the Honorable Theodore Metry.
