Six People Arrested at Sobriety Checkpoint
Suffolk County Police, assisted by New York State Police, arrested six people during an overnight sobriety checkpoint in Patchogue.
Police officers from the Suffolk County Police Department Highway Patrol Bureau’s Selective Alcohol Fatality Enforcement Team (SAFE-T) and the Fifth Precinct, assisted by New York State Troopers, conducted a Sobriety Checkpoint on the westbound Sunrise Highway Service Road at Waverly Avenue. The checkpoint was part of the on-going Labor Day holiday weekend enforcement initiative targeting impaired driving due to alcohol and drugs. A total of 614 vehicles went through the checkpoint.
The following people were charged with Driving While Intoxicated:
- John Pazienza, 29, of 1 Country Club Drive, Coram
- Raymond Liebert, 42, of 14 Gaton Lane, Coram
- Christina Casano, 35, of 1 Gould Road North, Setauket
- William Rubino, 44, of 14 Sturrock Way, East Setauket
- James Halleran, 28, of 84 Manhattan Blvd., Islip Terrace
- Ralph Pensa, 61, of 822 North Greene Ave., Lindenhurst
The above individuals will be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on August 31th.
A criminal charge is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
