Pedestrian Killed in Motor Vehicle Crash
Suffolk County Police First Squad detectives are investigating a motor vehicle crash that killed a pedestrian in Amityville last night.
Maria Zatarga-Fagan was in front of 48 Montauk Highway, attempting to cross the roadway from south to north, when she was struck by an eastbound 2018 Jeep Wrangler at approximately 8:35 p.m.
Zatarga-Fagan, 37, of 392 Jervis Ave., Copiague, was transported to Nassau University Medical Center in East Meadow where she was pronounced dead. The driver of the Jeep, Michael Nomikos, 42, of West Babylon, was not injured.
The Jeep was impounded for a safety check. Detectives are asking anyone who may have witnessed the crash to call the First Squad at 631-854-8152.
