...A PERIOD OF STRONG WINDS THIS MORNING...
In the wake of a line of showers and thunderstorms which moved
through earlier this morning, winds have significantly increased
over portions of east central Illinois. The Decatur airport
reported a wind gust of 52 mph shortly before 8 am, and a 48 mph
gust was reported at the Champaign airport just after 830 am.
Expect wind gusts of 40-50 mph for a couple more hours, before
tapering off a bit late this morning. However, gusts of 35 mph or
higher are likely to continue into the afternoon, especially north
of Champaign and Danville.
Instructions:
Be alert for things the wind may be blowing around. Use care driving especially if driving a high profile vehicle.
