Differences in Message Types:
COMMUNITY- Non-emergency alerts which include public information such as event reminders, community updates, and emergency preparedness information. These make up approximately 20% of the Nixle messages sent by Teton County Emergency Management.
ADVISORY- Includes Town of Jackson/Teton County road closures (not State Highways), severe weather, police activity, road closures, 9-1-1 outages, utility outages, emergency shelter openings, etc. These messages are important, but not imminently life-threatening. These make up approximately 71% of the Nixle messages sent by Teton County Emergency Management.
ALERT- Missing persons, life-threatening disasters, life-threatening severe weather, evacuations, public health orders, boil water orders, etc. The key for a message to be an ALERT is an imminent threat to life and/or property for a significant portion of the population. These make up approximately 9% of the Nixle messages sent by Teton County Emergency Management.
What Should I Do?
First and foremost, Teton County Emergency Management cannot access your personal account, nor can we make any changes to your subscriber preferences. All changes must be made by you, and if you have technical difficulties contact Nixle support at [email protected] for assistance. This is to protect your privacy.
If you like receiving most of your Nixle messages as emails and not text messages, be sure you have an email address on file by accessing your account at www.nixle.com or texting your email address to the number 888-777.
If you’d prefer to continue to receive most of your Nixle messages as text messages, access your account at www.nixle.com and be sure that all of your email addresses for your account are deleted. You will no longer receive any emails from Nixle and will have to click on the hyperlink in the Nixle text messages to get further critically-important information.
You may also download the Everbridge App by texting "APP" to 888-777. A link will be sent to your phone to download the app. To locate Teton County Emergency Management in the app, be sure to search by ZIP Code and use 83001. The Everbridge App will send push notifications to your device which include our ADVISORY messages. You can also enable location-based alerts through the Everbridge App so you can receive messages when you travel to other jurisdictions that use the Nixle or Everbridge systems.

You can change back to English at any time by texting ENG to 888-777.

Nixle has implemented a new feature called SmartPath, which will change the way you receive ADVISORY Nixle messages. As a Nixle subscriber, you need to know the following:
- Users who subscribed using both their cell phone number and email, will start receiving ADVISORY Nixle messages via email only instead of text messages.
- Users who subscribed using only their email address will continue receiving ADVISORY Nixle messages via email.
- Users who subscribed using only their cell phone number will continue receiving ADVISORY Nixle messages via text message.
