PRESS RELEASE
Date: June 2, 2020
Incident: City of Rialto Local Emergency Declared - Curfew from 6pm to 6am Until Further Notice
As a result of the rioting, looting and acts of violence seen throughout the County of San Bernardino and neighboring jurisdictions these past few days, the city of Rialto declared a Local Emergency, implementing a citywide curfew between the hours of 6:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. Please remain at home during the curfew hours and rest assured the Rialto Police Department will ensure the safety of our community, businesses and properties.
Law enforcement, fire, medical personnel and members of the media are exempt from the curfew, as well as people traveling directly to and from work or seeking emergency care. “The Rialto Police Department stands with our nation in solidarity in what we have seen in Minneapolis. We support everyone’s First Amendment right to free speech and will protect those exercising their liberties lawfully. However, the unlawful acts by criminals who prey on opportunities presented by peaceful protest will not be tolerated,” said Police Chief Mark Kling.
Remember to report suspicious activity, use 9-1-1 only for emergencies and stay safe.
