CLOVERDALE PREPARES FOR INDEPENDENCE DAY CELEBRATION

As the Fourth of July approaches, the Cloverdale Police Department would like to provide citizens with important information about the use of safe and sane fireworks. As in the previous years, the City of Cloverdale is allowing the sale and use of safe and sane fireworks within the incorporated area of Cloverdale. Any person who wishes to purchase and use safe and sane fireworks are strongly encouraged to adhere to the following dates, times and locations for
discharge.
 
DATES AND HOURS FOR THE SALE OF SAFE AND SANE FIREWORKS:
JULY 1rst: 10:00 am to 9:00 pm
JULY 2nd: 10:00 am to 9:00 pm
JULY 3rd:  10:00 am to 9:00 pm
JULY 4th:  10:00 am to 9:00 pm           

DATES AND HOURS FOR DISCHARGE OF SAFE AND SANE FIREWORKS:
JULY 4th: 11:00 am to Midnight
 
DESIGNATED PLACES FOR DISCHARGE:
It shall be unlawful for any person to ignite, discharge, project or otherwise fire or use, any safe and sane fireworks, or permit the ignition, discharge or projection thereof, upon or over or onto the property of another without the property owner’s consent, or to ignite, discharge, project or otherwise fire or make use of any safe and sane fireworks within ten (10) feet of any residence, dwelling or other structure used as a place of habitation by human beings.
 
The use of safe and sane fireworks in the City shall be limited to private property except as otherwise provided herein. No person shall ignite or discharge any safe and sane fireworks on private open areas such as parks, parking lots or vacant property, without the property owner’s or his or her designated agent’s permission. No person shall ignite or discharge any safe and sane fireworks on public or semi-public open areas such as parks, parking lots or vacant property, excluding public streets and sidewalks, except as authorized in writing by the City and, if applicable, the private property owner or his or her designated agent.
 
Any person who discharges safe and sane fireworks on public or private property shall be responsible for the removal of all spent fireworks debris and litter or rubbish associated with the discharge of fireworks, and for disposition thereof in an appropriate trash receptacle. Spent fireworks debris shall be allowed to cool for at least 30 minutes or immersed in water before discarding in a trash receptacle.
 
PARK RULES:
All Park Lands will be closed between the hours of 10:00 pm and 7:00 am. Persons wishing to utilize the parks must obey all posted rules and regulations and adhere to the current Shelter in Place Social Distancing requirements.
 
VISITORS:
The City of Cloverdale recognizes the importance of Independence Day celebrations however, due to the pandemic and current shelter in place order, the city is encouraging persons residing outside the incorporated City of Cloverdale avoid traveling into the city on July 4th to reduce vehicle congestion as well as large social gatherings as defined in the public health order (refer to attached Social Distancing Protocol).  
 
The Cloverdale Police Department is committed to continuing its efforts to ensure public safety and will have increased patrol staff on duty to maintain its current approach of community policing to support education and safety during this event.
