Southern McLean County in central Illinois...
* Until 245 AM CDT.
* At 1046 PM CDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing
heavy rain across the warned area. Up to three inches of rain have already fallen. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly.
HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.
SOURCE...Radar indicated.
IMPACT...Flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other drainage and low lying areas.
* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Bloomington, Normal, Le Roy, Heyworth, Danvers, Downs, Saybrook, Stanford, Cooksville, Bellflower, Arrowsmith, Ellsworth, Holder, Moraine View State Park, Bloomington Airport and Shirley.
Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches are possible in the warned area.
This includes the following highways...
Interstate 39 between mile markers 0 and 1.
Interstate 55 between mile markers 146 and 169.
Interstate 74 between mile markers 123 and 151.
Instructions:
Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles.
Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding
