The majority of the these are very easily preventable. A reminder to not leave valuable items in your car is number one. Also the majority of the thefts occur with unlocked cars. Locking your vehicle would prevent a large portion of these thefts. Exterior security lighting of the outside of your residence/driveway is an effective deterrent to thieves.
