Online Reporting Program
Date: November 13, 2020
No: 20-32
Subject: RAPD Online Reporting
Over the last few months the Racine Police Department implemented an online reporting system. This is part of the forward thinking Community Oriented Policing approach that is adopted by the Racine Police Department. The online reporting system will assist with police manpower, improve response times, and increase community engagement. It will also offer a level of convenience for the citizens of Racine and those most vulnerable to the Covid-19 pandemic.
For situations where the online criteria is met a citizen can simply file a report from a computer or smartphone by visiting https://www.cityofracine.org/police and clicking on "File Police Report Online". Every online report submitted is reviewed by a supervisor and assigned for further investigation if applicable just like an initial report written by an officer.
Crimes that will be allowed to be filed online include:
-White collar crimes, identify thefts/frauds
-Thefts with no suspect on scene
-Vandalism with no suspect
-Lost property
If a citizen is unsure he/she is encouraged to call the dispatch center at 262-886-2300 where a dispatcher will assist in determining whether online reporting is applicable.
All media inquiries regarding this incident should be directed to my attention at (262) 635-7772. Thank you very much.
