Winter Storm Warning until 10:00AM Friday

* WHAT...Heavy snow expected. Total snow accumulations of 4 to 8 inches, with the highest totals in the higher elevations. Winds gusting as high as 40 mph.

* WHERE...In Maryland, Garrett County. In West Virginia, Western Grant and Western Pendleton Counties.

* WHEN...From 9 PM this evening to 10 AM EST Friday. Rain will change to snow this evening and continue into early Friday morning.

* IMPACTS...The combination of wet surfaces and rapidly falling temperatures may cause a flash freeze, causing icy conditions to rapidly develop on roadways and sidewalks late this evening. All surfaces will become snow covered as well overnight into Friday.

* AFFECTED AREAS: GARRETT ... WESTERN PENDLETON ... WESTERN GRANT

If you must travel, keep an extra flashlight, food, and water in your vehicle in case of an emergency. When venturing outside, watch your first few steps taken on steps, sidewalks, and driveways, which could be icy and slippery, increasing your risk of a fall and injury.
