Advisory

NWS Issues High Wind Warning at higher elevations until 7am Tuesday; Wind Advisory in effect until 6pm Tuesday

The National Weather Service has upgraded its Wind Advisory to a High Wind  Warning for higher elevations across the Bay Area, including parts of Napa County. The High Wind Warning is in effect from 4 PM PST Monday through 7 AM PST Tuesday at elevations 1,000 feet or higher. A Wind Advisory remains in effect for the entire San Francisco Bay Area from 10 PM PST Sunday through 6 PM PST Tuesday.

Gusty winds may blow down limbs or trees, especially those within burn scars where dead and dying trees could be at additional risk of falling. It is also advised to secure any temporary structures to protect them from the winds. Motorists should use caution when driving high profile vehicles or pulling trailers in windy conditions.

Residents and visitors are also urged to watch for downed powerlines. PG&E is not calling for a Public Safety Power Shutoff in Napa County but scattered outages are possible.

Would you know what to do if you encountered a downed powerline? Always treat them as if they are energized! More safety tips can be found here.
