Press release update: July 8, 2021 Domestic Violence Incident

The Fairfield Police Department previously reported a domestic violence incident that occurred on July 8th, 2021, in the 200 block of Pennsylvania Avenue.  The victim has been identified as 36-year-old Fairfield resident Erika Avelino.

Our thoughts are with the victims family, friends and those that knew Erika.

On July 8th, 2021 at around 11:00 AM, Fairfield Police Dispatch received a call in regards to a domestic violence incident in the 200 block of Pennsylvania Avenue. When officers arrived they found a 26-year-old female Fairfield resident who was deceased. The investigation determined Hugo Avelinomedina, a 34-year-old Fairfield resident was responsible for murder. Hugo had fled in his vehicle prior to officers arrival. 

With the assistance of the California Highway Patrol, Hugo’s vehicle was located in San Rafael. Fairfield Police detectives responded to the location and recovered the vehicle. Detectives began a search with the assistance of the Marin County Sheriff’s Office and San Rafael Police Department. Hugo was located in the area by detectives and taken into custody. Hugo was later booked into the Solano County Jail for murder, violation of his probation and other domestic violence related charges.
