Tonight, neighborhoods throughout Novato are invited to join forces with thousands of communities nationwide for the “38th Annual National Night Out” (NNO) crime and drug prevention event. National Night Out involves over 17,000 communities from all over the nation and is co-sponsored locally by Novato Police, Novato Fire, Lucky Supermarkets & Starbucks.

Police Officers, Fire personnel and community partners will be on hand to promote public safety and crime prevention awareness for members of the Novato community.
 
National Night Out is designed to:
1. Heighten crime and drug prevention awareness.
2. Generated support for, and participation in, local anti-crime efforts.
3. Strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships.
4. Send a message to criminals letting them know neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.
 
Festivities will be held on Machin Ave. between De Long Ave & Cain Ln. from 5pm to 7pm. The road will close down at 4pm and will reopen to through traffic around 7pm. Please use alternative routes.

The Novato Police Department remains open for calls for service and the lobby will close at 5pm (normal business hours).
