Full-Time Job Openings

The Stokes County Sheriff's Office is looking for detention officers to work in the Stokes County Jail. Working in the jail is a challenging job, but has is own rewards. Currently we have 2 full-time openings and are always looking for part-time officers as well.   1. Applicant must be 21 years of age or older with a high school diploma or GED
  2. Possess a valid driver's license.
  3. Must be a U.S citizen.
  4. Have no serious convictions of crimes.
  5. Must complete the application process which includes being fingerprinted and a background investigation.
  6. Must be able to operate effectively in unpredictable high stress situations.
  7. Be willing to work days, nights, and holidays.
  8. Requires the employee to report to duty in all types of natural or manmade situations.
  9. Must be physically able to perform job duties. A physical and drug screen will be required to be completed during the application process.
On the job training is provided and State mandated training is required within the first year of employment. Benefits for full-time officers include health insurance, dental insurance, 401K, and a death benefit.
