Subject: Search Warrant-Homicide Suspect
Earlier this week The Chicago Police Department contacted the Racine Police Department/ATF (Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives) Violent Crime Task Force indicating that a party wanted for First Degree Murder was possibly hiding in our jurisdiction. Over the last couple of days, a cooperative investigation involving the ATF, Racine Police Department, and the Chicago Police Department led to a successful apprehension of the subject, Jaran M. Hughes, 20, of Chicago, in the 4000 block of Erie St., early this morning. Hughes was taken into custody by the Racine Police Department SWAT Team due to the belief that he was still armed and dangerous. No suspect or officers were injured during this operation.
