ARRAIGNMENT/BAIL STATUS: Davis was arraigned in Amsterdam City Court in front of Honorable Judge Lisa W. Lorman and remained to Montgomery County Corrections without bail.
INCIDENT NARRATIVE: The Amsterdam Police Department reports the arrest of Michael L. Davis after having received a report of an alleged rape which had occurred in the City of Amsterdam. As the result of an investigation a warrant was issued for Davis who is a current residence in Providence Rhode Island. Davis, who was currently on probation was arrested on 02/02/2022 in Rhode Island and booked into Rhode Island Corrections in Cranston Rhode Island. Members of the Amsterdam Police Department responded to Rhode Island Department of Corrections where they took custody of Davis and transported him back to Amsterdam where he was processed and arraigned in Amsterdam City Court. The Amsterdam Police Department was assisted by Montgomery County Probation, Rhode Island State Police, Rhode Island Department of Corrections and the Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office.
While there was probable cause for this arrest, all persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
