UPDATE: vehicle vs pedestrian investigation
In response to the earlier Nixle message, the Cloverdale Police Dispatch Center received multiple calls from citizens reporting a vehicle, matching the description, abandoned in a remote area on Pine Mountain. At 11:54 AM, Cloverdale Police, along with the California Highway Patrol and the Sonoma County District Attorney’s Office, responded to the area and located the vehicle, described as a Gray 2005 Honda Civic sedan, down an embankment. Upon visual inspection of the vehicle’s exterior, officers located a considerable amount of damage and evidence that led them to believe the vehicle was linked to the incident.
The vehicle was sealed and towed to the police department for further investigation pending the authorization of a search warrant.
Officers conducted a records check on the vehicle and learned that the registered owner listed an address in the 100 block of Caldwell St. in Cloverdale. Officers responded to the residence and contacted Salvador Oseguera Moreno 64, who later admitted to being the driver of the vehicle. He was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Sonoma County Jail and booked for felony hit and run with injury.
The victim, whose identity is being withheld at this time, remains in critical condition.
The Cloverdale Police Department would like to thank the Sonoma County District Attorney’s Office and the California Highway Patrol for their assistance.
