Public Meeting set for June 1st to discuss the 2022 Community Development Block Grant and potential applications for funding.
The City of Lakeport will conduct a public meeting on June 1, 2022, at 5:30 pm in the City Council Chambers located 225 Park Street, Lakeport, CA. in order to discuss possible applications for funding under the 2022 (July 1 to June 30) State Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Program and to solicit citizen input on possible activities to be included in the application and general program review.

The Community Development and Economic Development Allocations of the State CDBG program will be published in a “Notice of Funding Availability” (NOFA) each program year. The state expects to have about $30 million available for the upcoming 2022 NOFA. Eligible cities and counties may submit applications for CDBG funds under the NOFA for a maximum per application request up to $1.5 million, in three maximum activities.
ELIGIBLE ACTIVITIES UNDER THE ABOVE ALLOCATIONS IN THE NOFA CONSIST OF: HOMEOWNERSHIP ASSISTANCE AND HOUSING REHABILITATION PROGRAMS; PUBLIC SERVICE PROGRAMS, PLANNING STUDIES, ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT BUSINESS ASSISTANCE AND MICROENTERPRISE ACTIVITIES. ELIGIBLE ACTIVITIES PAID FOR WITH STATE CDBG FUNDS MUST MEET ONE OF THE THREE NATIONAL OBJECTIVES LISTED IN CDBG FEDERAL STATUTES AS FOLLOWS: BENEFIT TO LOW INCOME HOUSEHOLDS OR PERSONS; ELIMINATION OF SLUMS AND BLIGHT; OR MEETING URGENT COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT NEED. NOTE: OVER THE COUNTER (OTC) PROJECTS FOR PUBLIC FACILTIIES AND PUBLIC IMPROVEMENTS ARE NOT ELIGIBLE UNDER THIS NOFA.
The City of Lakeport anticipates submitting an application(s) under this NOFA. The City does not expect to expend any Program Income dollars in the next program year/contract term.
Applications currently being considered:
Planning Activities – 1. To plan the required policies and procedures needed to re-launch the City of Lakeport Housing Program. 2. Study relocation opportunities of LMI housing developments from flood zone areas.
The purpose of this public hearing is to give citizens an opportunity to make their comments known regarding what types of eligible activities the City of Lakeport should apply for under the State CDBG program and discuss the overall CDBG Program.
