Carrera de la Antorcha de las Fuerzas del Orden el 22/6

This year marks the 25th Anniversary of the Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics in Northern California. A small but dedicated group of law enforcement officers, along with the support of Special Olympics staff, brought the Torch Run to life in Northern California in 1997. From its humble beginnings the Law Enforcement Torch Run (LETR) Northern California has grown into an integral part of Special Olympics; each year hundreds of law enforcement personnel participate.

On June 22nd at 1 pm, the Berkeley Police Department and the University of California Police Department will carry the “Flame of Hope” through the City of Berkeley.  Officers will carry the “Flame of Hope” on the following route until they pass the “Flame of Hope” to the City of Emeryville Police Department.

Berkeley PD:

  • E/B Solano to The Alameda
  • S/B The Alameda to MLK
  • S/B MLK to Center Street
  • E/B Center Street to Oxford
  • S/B Oxford to the UC Berkeley Sign
UCPD Route:
  • S/B Fulton to Channing Way
  • W/B Channing to Shattuck Avenue
  • S/B Shattuck Avenue to Carleton Street
  • W/B Carleton to 7th Street
  • S/B 7th Street to Folger

If you are in Berkeley tomorrow afternoon, we encourage you cheer on the runners.  If you are planning on driving through the area during the Law Enforcement Torch Run, you should expect some intermittent traffic delays.
