Four Men Arrested for DWI at Sobriety Checkpoint
The Suffolk County Police Department, assisted by the New York State Police and the Suffolk County Sheriff’s Office, arrested four men during an overnight sobriety checkpoint in the Port Jefferson Station area last night through early this morning.
Police officers from the Suffolk County Police Department’s Highway Patrol Bureau conducted a joint operation checkpoint with New York State Troopers and Suffolk County Deputy Sheriff’s at the corner of Route 112 and Hallock Avenue in Port Jefferson Station from 11:10 p.m. to 2:25 a.m. The checkpoint was part of an ongoing 4th of July holiday weekend crackdown targeting alcohol and drug impaired driving. A total of 472 vehicles went through the checkpoint.
The following people were arrested and charged with Driving While Intoxicated:
- Daniel George, 29, of 101 Stanley Drive, Centereach
- William Renner, 52, of 334 6th Ave., St. James
- Jean Alouder, 28, of 19 Jaques Ave., Worcester, MA
- Elijah Bryant, 41, of 471 Canal Road, Port Jefferson
The arrestees will be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on July 2.
A criminal charge is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
