Flash Flood Warning until 12:15AM Wednesday

The National Weather Service in Milwaukee/Sullivan has extended the

* Flash Flood Warning for... Northwestern Green County in south central Wisconsin...

* Until 1215 AM CDT.

* At 826 PM CDT, Additional thunderstorm activity and very heavy rainfall are expected tonight. Between 2.5 and 3.5 inches of rain have fallen across the warned area, with an additional 2 to 3 inches of rain possible over the next few hours. Rainfall rate of 1 to 2 inches per hour will be possible with additional thunderstorm activity. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly. HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms. SOURCE...Radar. IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage and low-lying areas.

* Some locations that will experience flash flooding include... New Glarus and Monticello.

* AFFECTED AREAS: GREEN, WI

Instructions:

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding. In hilly terrain there are hundreds of low water crossings which are potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to cross flooded roads. Find an alternate route.
