Arrest Made in Robbery at Gunpoint
The Fairfield Police Department has arrested a suspect in a robbery that occurred in the 1500 Block of Gulf Drive on July 7.
30-year-old Omari Garland of Fairfield, California was booked Tuesday, July 12 and is being charged with felony robbery. Garland is believed to have assaulted a 70-year-old male victim at his home, taking his cell phone at gun point. The incident was captured on home video.
The victim’s stolen cell phone was quickly recovered by Fairfield PD, and detectives immediately began investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Officers identified Omari Garland as the suspect and entered his vehicle information in the FLOCK system. Officers later received a FLOCK alert regarding the vehicle and Garland was taken into custody without incident.
In addition to the felony robbery charge for the July 7 incident, Garland is also being investigated for several other crimes. As this is an on-going investigation, further details will not be released at this time.
