- AGGRAVATED UNLICENSED OPERATION 3RD (A – MISDEMEANOR)
ARRAIGNMENT/BAIL STATUS: Christian was arraigned in front of the Honorable Judge Lisa W. Lorman in Amsterdam City Court where he was released on his own recognizance to return to Amsterdam City Court on a later date.
INCIDENT NARRATIVE: On August 3rd at approximately 1:30 p.m. Amsterdam Police took a report of a stolen vehicle from the Lynch Middle School on Brandt Place. Amsterdam Patrol Officers and Detectives responded to the school to conduct interviews and canvass the area. According to staff at the school the vehicle was taken while it was parked in front of a maintenance garage hours prior to the time of report. Upon review of the school surveillance systems police were able to positively identify the suspect in the larceny of the vehicle as Nakia Christian of Amsterdam.
On August 8th Schenectady Police contacted this agency advising that they had located the stolen vehicle and the suspect, Nakia Christian in the City of Schenectady. Christian was taken into custody by Schenectady Police and was transferred over to Amsterdam Police custody where he was brought back to police headquarters for processing.
While there was probable cause for this arrest, all persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
