Suffolk County Police Second Squad detectives are investigating a crash that killed a motorcyclist in East Northport last night.
 
Gary Skaats was operating a 1998 Honda motorcycle westbound on Jericho Turnpike, 50 feet west of Verleye Avenue, when his vehicle crashed into a 2012 Honda SUV that was attempting to turn left from eastbound Jericho Turnpike into a parking lot at approximately 9:40 p.m.  
 
Skaats, 30, of East Northport, was pronounced dead at the scene by a physician assistant from the Office of the Suffolk County Medical Examiner. The driver of the SUV, Logan Krauss, 36, of Dix Hills, was not injured.
 
Both vehicles were impounded for safety checks. Anyone with information on the crash is asked to contact the Second Squad at 631-854-8252.
