INDOT announces SR 28 Project Update
INDOT announces updates to the State Road 28 resurfacing and reconstruction project in Frankfort. Due to industry-wide supply chain and labor shortage issues, the new timeline for reopening is after mid-November of 2022, weather permitting. Crews are working diligently to be as efficient, safe and timely as possible. INDOT appreciates the continued cooperation and patience of residents and the traveling public.
After the road reopens, crews will still be working on cosmetic improvements, like lane striping and landscaping. That will be done under temporary restrictions and/or flagging operations. The project is expected to be completely finished in December of 2022.
Currently, S.R. 28 is restricted between N. Co. Rd. 300 W. and Prairie Ave. Those restrictions are set to end after mid-September, weather permitting. There is a crossover on S.R. 28 at Co. Rd. 200 W. to allow for the installation of water mains across S.R. 28 in three locations.
The official detour for the north side of C.R. 200 W. follows C.R. 300 W. to C.R. 0 and back to C.R. 200 W. The official detour for the south side of C.R. 200 W. follows C.R. 200 W. to C.R. 350 W. north to S.R. 28 W.
