Racine Police Department 730 Center Street  Racine Wisconsin, 53403 PHONE NO. (262) 886-2300 FAX. NO. (262) 635-0190 Date: September 12, 2022 No: 22-25 Subject: Fatal Hit and Run Accident On Sunday, September 11, 2022 at approximately 1904 hours, officers responded to the area of Phillips Ave. and Washington Ave. for a report of someone that was hit by a vehicle. Officers located a 59 year old male laying in the 2000 block of Washington Ave. The male was deceased as a result of his injuries. The 59 year old male had just exited his friend’s vehicle and made his way around to the other side of the vehicle to cross Washington Ave. The friend heard a crash and then saw his friend in the roadway and a vehicle leaving the area. The suspect vehicle was later located. It was parked and unoccupied. The operator has yet to be identified and located. The vehicle was towed. This investigation is ongoing. Racine Police Traffic Investigators are interested in any additional information that anyone may have about this incident. Any witnesses, or citizens with information, are urged to call the Racine Police Department Traffic Unit at (262) 635-7816.
