Juvenile detained in connection with Sunday night’s shooting in Bluffton
The investigation into the shooting incident that left a 17-year-old Hardeeville resident hospitalized with gunshot wounds has led to the detention of another area teen.
Sunday night, Sheriff’s deputies were called to The Retreat at Grande Oaks for a gunshot victim. A Hardeeville youth was found inside of a vehicle with gunshot wounds. He was transported to Savannah Memorial for treatment and remains in stable condition.
Investigators collected evidence and conducted interviews Sunday night and Monday morning which led to the identity of the juvenile offender.
Acting on probable cause, the 16-year-old Bluffton teen was taken into custody Monday afternoon with the assistance of the Bluffton Police Department.
He faces charges of attempted murder, possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime, unlawful carrying of a firearm, and discharging a firearm into a vehicle.
He was transported to the Department of Juvenile Justice Monday evening and will have a detention hearing in Family Court later this week.
